These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website www.harperdebbage.uk (“Site”) and any purchase you make from our online store.
By using this Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this Site or purchase from it.

All sales and contracts are made with Kristopher Harper-Allison, trading as Harper & Debbage, a self-employed sole trader based in the United Kingdom.

2.2 You must not use this Site in any way that causes or may cause damage to the Site or impairs its availability or accessibility.
2.3 All content on this Site (including text, photographs, and layout) is owned by Harper Debbage or its licensors. You may view or print pages for personal use only. Reproduction or redistribution without permission is prohibited.
2.4 We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the information on this Site is accurate, but it is provided “as is” without warranty.

3. Products & Descriptions
3.1 All items offered for sale are secondhand books, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
3.2 Each book listing includes a condition description (e.g. Very Good, Good, Acceptable). Please review these descriptions carefully before purchasing.
3.3 Secondhand books may show normal signs of use, such as:
- Minor wear to covers or dust jackets
- Fading or yellowing of pages
- Small tears, creases, or marks
- Previous owner inscriptions or annotations
We aim to describe such conditions as accurately and honestly as possible.
3.4 Product images are for illustrative purposes only. Actual appearance may vary slightly due to lighting or monitor settings.
3.5 All books are offered subject to availability. If an item becomes unavailable after ordering, you will be notified and refunded in full.
4. Prices, Payment & Security
4.1 All prices are in Pounds Sterling (£) and include VAT (if applicable).
4.2 Payment must be made in full at the time of order using PayPal. You can pay with your PayPal account or via debit/credit card through PayPal’s secure checkout.
4.3 We do not store your financial or card details. PayPal processes all payments securely on its own platform.
4.4 You will receive an order confirmation email once payment is complete.
4.5 Prices may change at any time, but changes will not affect confirmed orders.
5. Forming a Contract
5.1 When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase goods under these Terms.
5.2 We will acknowledge your order by email, but this does not constitute acceptance.
5.3 A binding contract is formed only when we dispatch your order and send you a dispatch confirmation email.
5.4 We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order before dispatch (for example, if an item is unavailable or an error occurred).
6. Delivery & Shipping Policy
6.1 Orders are normally dispatched within 2–5 working days after payment.
6.2 All orders are sent via Royal Mail (2nd Class, or Tracked if appropriate) or another suitable postal service.
6.3 Delivery charges are shown at checkout before payment.
6.4 Estimated delivery times:
- UK: 2–5 working days after dispatch
- Europe: 5–10 working days
- Rest of world: 7–21 working days
6.5 We carefully package books using protective materials suitable for postal transport. However, if a book arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs so that we can resolve the issue promptly.
6.6 We are not liable for postal delays beyond our control (e.g. strikes, weather, customs delays).
6.7 If your order is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address, additional postage may be required for re-delivery.
6.8 Risk passes to you on delivery; ownership passes once full payment has been received.
7. Returns, Refunds & Cancellations
7.1 Your Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason.
To exercise this right:
- Email us within 14 days of receiving your order.
- Include your order number and reason for return.
- We will then reply with instructions on how to return the item(s).
You must return the goods within 14 days of receiving our return instructions. Items must be returned in the same condition as received.
Refunds include the original standard delivery cost but exclude the cost of return postage (unless the item was faulty or misdescribed).
Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or proof of posting.
7.2 Condition of Returned Items
You may inspect books as you would in a shop. However, refunds may be reduced if a book is returned in worse condition than when sold.
Returned books must be packaged carefully to prevent damage in transit.
7.3 Faulty, Damaged, or Misdescribed Books
If an item is faulty, damaged, or not as described:
- Email us as soon as possible (ideally within 30 days) with your order number and details of the issue.
- We will provide instructions for returning the book.
- Once received and confirmed, we will offer a replacement (if available) or a full refund, including return postage costs.
This does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
7.4 Items Not Eligible for Return
Returns are not accepted for:
- Gift cards or vouchers
- Digital downloads (if applicable)
- Personalised or made-to-order items (if offered)
7.5 Return Process
To start a return:
- Email hello@harperdebbage.uk with your order number and reason for return.
- Wait for our return instructions before sending anything back.
- Once approved, return the item as directed using a secure, tracked postal service.
Do not return books without contacting us first, this ensures your return can be properly tracked and processed.
Refunds will be issued via your original PayPal payment method once the returned item is received and checked.
8. Refunds Policy Summary

- Processing typically takes 3–5 working days after approval.
- We will confirm via email once your refund has been issued.
- Refunds cannot exceed the original transaction amount.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, goodwill, or data.
9.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Breach of your legal rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods
9.3 Except as set out above, our total liability shall not exceed the price of the book(s) in question.
10. Privacy & Data Protection

Payment data is processed securely by PayPal; we do not store or have access to your full financial information.
11. Intellectual Property
All website content (text, design, images, and logos) is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or reuse any content without prior written permission.
12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Summary of Your Key Consumer Rights (UK)
Under UK law, you have the right to expect goods that:

- Are of satisfactory quality
- Are fit for purpose
If goods are faulty, you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of receipt, or a repair/replacement thereafter under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
